Taru Privacy Policy
Taru is operated by 1779290 Alberta Ltd. (“Taru”, “we”). This policy explains how we handle personal information in the Taru software and on gettaru.com.
1. Who is responsible
Clinics that use Taru own and control the client and patient information they enter. The clinic decides what it collects, why, and who sees it. The clinic is responsible for getting consent from its clients and for meeting the privacy and health information laws that apply to its practice and province or state.
Taru stores and processes that information only on the clinic's behalf and only to run the service.
2. What we collect
- Clinic account information: names, emails, phone numbers, billing details and staff accounts.
- Information clinics enter: client, appointment, intake, clinical note, payment and insurance details.
- Usage information: device, browser, log and feature-use data, used to keep Taru secure and working.
3. How we use it
We use information only to provide, secure, support and improve Taru, bill clinics, and contact account holders. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We may use anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify anyone to improve the service.
4. Service providers
We use trusted providers to run Taru, including hosting (Amazon Web Services), messaging (Twilio), payments (Stripe) and email. They may process information only to provide their service to us. Information may be stored or processed in Canada or the United States.
5. Disclosure
We share information only to provide the service, when the clinic directs us to, or when the law requires it.
6. Security
We use encryption, access controls and role-based permissions to protect information. No system is completely secure. Clinics are responsible for managing their users, passwords and access.
7. Retention
We keep clinic data while the account is active. When an account closes, the clinic can request an export, and we delete the data within a reasonable time unless the law requires us to keep it.
8. Your rights
Clients and patients who want to access, correct or delete their information should contact their clinic first. We will help the clinic respond as required by law. Clinic account holders can contact us directly.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The latest version will always be posted on gettaru.com.
